Absorbent Ground - 946ml Jar

GOLDEN Absorbent Ground is a fluid acrylic medium that creates a porous paper-like surface when applied over canvas. It was designed especially for watercolour/staining effects. It’s a lightfast, permanent and flexible ground, although not the same as gesso – it is recommended it’s applied over a porous sealed surface. Once dried, it creates a proper acrylic film that doesn’t need to be kept under glass, although it is recommended to use additional protection like an isolation coat and GOLDEN Varnishes (Polymer & MSA) in order to protect the artwork from environmental factors like sunlight and dust.

Absorbent ground can be tinted prior to application with acrylic paints. It’s great for use with watercolour paints that will keep their attributes (like water solubility.) Whilst it’s not particularly recommended, the application of thin glazes and washes of oil paint is possible with specific preparation. (It’s advised to prepare the ground by applying at least 4 coats of GOLDEN Gesso to the support or sizing with two coats of GAC 100 and two more coats of Acrylic Gesso.)

UK delivery starts from £3.50 with free delivery on orders over £30 (excluding the Channel Isles).

Unfortunately due to extra packing and shipping costs, we cannot do this on some product, mainly oversized ones such as large canvases.
